How Can I Pitch the Value of Monthly Accounting to My Partners?

April 22nd, 2024 | 6 min. read

By Bryan Cremeen

You’ve done your research. You’re sold on the value of monthly accounting. You’re ready to move forward with this unique service… but you need your partners to be on board, too.

Don’t forget that monthly accounting isn’t a well-known solution! How do you pitch the value of this secret weapon – something your partners may know nothing about?

At CSI Accounting & Payroll, we’ve been doing this for over 50 years – so we know exactly how! Let’s touch on:

  • What monthly accounting is and how it’s different from other accounting solutions.
  • Why it’s important to bundle bookkeeping, taxes, and advice.
  • The cost of monthly accounting and why it’s worth it.

What Is Monthly Accounting, and How Is It Different?

Monthly accounting – what is that? Is that just a fancy way of saying bookkeeping? Well, not really.

Think of monthly accounting as bookkeeping, taxes, and advice in an all-in-one service.

On a monthly basis, your financial activities are tracked, and your accounts are reconciled. You also receive monthly financial statements and sessions with your accountant. You can even contact them as much as you want with one-off questions at no additional cost.

With your current data right at your fingertips and answers to your questions only a call, text, or email away, you’ll have a clear understanding of your cash flow and the ability to catch and correct errors faster.

Combined, these tools help you make the best possible business decisions all year long.

What about annual taxes? We’re glad you asked! Monthly accounting also includes a year-round, complete tax strategy – consisting of tax planning, projections, and preparation – that neither annual tax accountants nor bookkeepers can provide! (Check out the next section to learn why.)

This strategy ensures that your tax liability is minimized through planning, and projections help you know what your tax season will look like months ahead of time. You owe the least amount legally possible, and there are no more surprise tax bills from the government! What else could a small business owner want?

Why Is It Important to Bundle Bookkeeping, Taxes, & Advice?

A monthly accountant is like a bookkeeper, annual tax accountant, and consultant all in one. Bundling those services matters because it’s how the whole accounting system works best.

What do we mean by that? Having them under one roof results in:

  • Better integration and minimized errors
  • Year-round tax planning
  • Bundled value

Remember, neither annual tax accountants nor bookkeepers can fully provide a year-round tax strategy. That’s because annual tax accountants don’t work with you year-round, and they certainly can’t talk about strategy year-round with bookkeepers if they’re not under the same roof.

That leaves communication between the two parties up to you. That means there’s no guarantee of effective execution, especially if you don’t have a background in accounting and don’t understand the terminology that your accountants are using.

Ditch those services that require you to have multiple points of contact, and see what your dedicated monthly accountant can tell you about your business:

What Does Monthly Accounting Cost? Is It Worth It?

Monthly accounting provides so much more value than bookkeeping alone at only a slightly higher price range. We can claim more value, not only because of the benefits of bundling, but also because of the range of services it includes.

Your set monthly accounting fee is customized to your business’s needs and covers the following:

  • Monthly Profit and Loss Statements
  • Monthly Balance Sheets
  • Monthly bank reconciliation
  • Monthly meetings with your accountant
  • Year-round business tax strategy
  • Annual business tax filing
  • Sales tax filings
  • Audit representation
  • Unlimited one-off questions

Our average fee comes out to approximately $675 per month. However, depending on your activity and complexities, your fee can range from $500 to $1,000+ per month.
