7 Great Reasons to Switch to QuickBooks Online

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

A change in software or business procedures can be frightening for some people. For example, if you are currently using a QuickBooks desktop version, you may be hesitant to switch over to QuickBooks Online. Here are seven reasons you might want to switch from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online.

1. Access Anytime from Any Location or Device

Whether you are in the office, at home, or on vacation, QuickBooks Online provides easy access from any laptop, smartphone, or tablet at any time. Depending on which version of QuickBooks Online you select for your company, you can have up to 25 simultaneous users on your account.

2. Automatic Backup of Data

You no longer have to worry about saving a copy of your latest backup, as QuickBooks Online automatically does this for you with the same level of security that banks and other financial institutions use. In addition, your data is safe from hardware malfunctions, is protected by two secure firewalls, and is safely stored in the cloud.

3. Easily Share Access With Your Accountant

Quickbooks Online makes it simple for you to share access with up to three accountants (depending on your QuickBooks Online version) without you having to provide a physical backup copy to them. This allows your accountant to efficiently assist you so that no information is lost from file transfers.

4. Many Software and App Integrations

Many online apps integrate with Quickbooks Online to help you run your business. Such as Shopify, Amazon.com, HoneyBook, and Salesforce, to name a few.

5. Technical Support is Included with QuickBooks Online

When you use QuickBooks Desktop, you will have limited support and need to purchase their Care Plan when many questions or software difficulties arise. However, with QuickBooks Online, you get unlimited support at no additional cost.

6. You Automatically Get the Latest Software Upgrades

QuickBooks Online upgrades its software several times each year, and updates are automatically available to QuickBooks Online users.

7. QuickBooks Desktop Now Requires Subscriptions

For many QuickBooks Desktop users, the reason they purchased the software in the past versus the online version is because it had a one-time payment and could be updated yearly or every few years with additional one-time charges. However, that has now changed, and QuickBooks Desktop now requires a subscription similar to the online version.
